Can Ceramic Coating Help Prevent Mildew on Caravan Roofs?
If mildew is appearing on your caravan roof, deal with that first. Ceramic coating is not an anti-mildew or anti-mould treatment. Hermosa does not claim that it kills, prevents or treats mould or mildew.
A coating can protect a clean, prepared roof and make it easier to look after. It cannot replace the cleaning and maintenance needed to manage an outdoor surface.
Check the roof before choosing a coating
Look for oxidation, staining, embedded contamination and damage on fibreglass or gel coat. Remove contamination and carry out any necessary correction before coating. The coating preserves the finish underneath; it does not repair existing defects.
The Hermosa range can be used on suitable fibreglass, plastic, metal and glass, including caravans and RVs, when the relevant product directions are followed. Check the directions for the surface you have.
Allow for a different service life
Hermosa Graphene Ceramic Coating provides automotive protection for up to five years with correct preparation, application and care. That claim does not establish five-year durability on a caravan, fibreglass or gel-coat roof.
Service life depends on the material, preparation, exposure and maintenance. Hermosa does not currently publish a five-year caravan durability promise.
Plan the application and ongoing care
Measure the roof and follow the current coverage guidance. Its area, condition and your application method affect how much coating you need; a car-sized estimate may not suit your caravan.
- Clean the roof and remove existing contamination with an appropriate treatment.
- Correct oxidation or defects where needed, then coat only a stable, clean and properly prepared surface.
- Follow the application and cure directions.
- Keep washing the roof, clear drainage areas and treat any mould or mildew as a separate maintenance issue.
