Work out what you can maintain at home and when stains, odours or worn materials need professional help.

A dusty dashboard and a few fingerprints usually need a different approach from deep stains or lingering odours. Start with what your interior needs now. You may be able to keep it comfortable with regular care at home, or it may be time for a detailer to handle the harder work.

What you can look after at home

Vacuum loose dirt, then choose a cleaner suited to each surface. Dashboards, leather, fabric and screens are not interchangeable. Check the vehicle and product directions before applying anything, and test a hidden area first.

Give leather its own care step

The aim is to retain the material’s natural look and feel. Adding more cleaner or conditioner does not necessarily give a better result.

When professional help makes sense

A detailer can assess deep stains, persistent odours, heavy soiling or worn materials. Depending on the job, professional interior detailing may include extraction or steam cleaning, stain removal, leather care and trim work. Ask what your particular interior needs rather than assuming every service is suitable for every material.

You can still maintain the interior between visits. Regular light cleaning and occasional professional work serve different purposes.
