How Much Does 50 ml of Ceramic Coating Really Cover?

Working out how many bottles to buy starts with the area you want to coat. For one thin, even coat on a clean, prepared surface, the guide range for a 50ml bottle is approximately 33–50m². Your surface and application method affect where you sit in that range.

What that means for a large SUV

A large SUV such as a Range Rover, Land Cruiser or Prado typically has about 18–24m² of exterior painted area. The approximate breakdown is:

• Roof: 3–4m²
• Bonnet: 2–2.5m²
• Both sides: 8–10m²
• Rear panels, pillars and other areas: 3–4m²

On smooth, properly prepared paint, one 50ml bottle is enough for one coat on a vehicle of that size, often with some coating left. Measure your own job rather than treating the vehicle category as an exact area.

Why the same bottle covers different areas

Oxidised, rough or porous surfaces can use more coating than smooth, corrected paint. As a guide, coverage on corrected automotive paint is often around 40–50m²; fibreglass and gel coat are usually nearer 33–40m².

Application matters too. A thin, even layer goes further than an overloaded applicator. Higher temperatures can shorten working time and increase evaporation from the applicator. Do not work on hot paint or leave dark panels in direct sunlight before coating; follow the conditions in the application guide.

Plan any additional coating separately

If you want to coat other suitable areas or apply another layer, allow for that in your estimate and follow the product directions. Check suitability before using coating on wheels, trim or glass. Keep any remaining product according to its storage instructions.
